ASUU Rejects Calls For Adamawa Varsity, Vc's Removal!!
The union which spoke through its chairman Alhaji Abubakar Song, yesterday in Yola, told pressmen that the body, had never at anytime joined the call for the removal of the new Vice Chancellor of the Adamawa State University (ADSU), noting that those rooting for the VC's ouster do not wish the institution well.
Prof. Shall has been caught in a web of controversy, following EFCC investigations over alleged sale of newly bought SUV' at scrap value and other financial malfeasance by his traducers.
But ASUU, however is saying the institutions, under Prof. David shall, is being repositioned.
Thus, the group noted that the vituperations from entrenched interest, who are opposed to the changes being brought by the new helmsman, were therefore out to crucify him.
He therefore called on all those who have resorted to blackmail to sabotage the change process in the institution to sheath their sword.
Song who explained that he has been in university system for a while to understand its politics stressed that the new VC was a victim of vested interest who is bent to get him out of their way.
"I have worked under several Vice chancellors of various institutions and I can testify that Prof. David is second to none, and his impeccable character is exceptional,' Song said.
According to him, those who want the vice chancellor out, are the same set of people who mismanaged the resources of the university during the past administration, adding that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
The ASUU chairman also cautioned the university community against bringing religious coloration into the ongoing changes and cleansing that the university is currently undergoing under Prof. Shall.
The ASUU chairman while urging the visitor to the university, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bindow to discontinuance the clamour, on him to remove the VC, saying the current Vice Chancellor has brought transparency in running the affairs of the institution, and therefore should be encouraged instead of being shown the way out.
Mr Molem Ishiaku, the immediate past ASUU chairman of the institution also added his voice to the rejection of the call for the sack of the embattled VC, observing that there has been massive corruption even before Shall was appointed but noted that under the new stewardship those trends were been reversed.
``The cabal is afraid of Prof. David Joshua Shall, so they want to orchestrate his immediate removal to pave way for them to enjoy and continue looting the university," he said.
